Once again, Breakin' Convention brings you the unique opportunity to learn from some of the best Hip Hop dancers from around the world - all in one weekend! This year there will be workshops in locking, breaking, street dance, nu style, house style, popping and DJ'ing. Workshops are open to all and you don't have to have a Breakin' Convention ticket to take part. Workshops take place in the studios at Sadlers' Wells Theatre from 10am - 5pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April with additional Krump workshops on Monday 1 May. Tickets are £10 (1.5 hour workshop) and £12 (2 hour workshop). SATURDAY | SUNDAY | MONDAY Hip Hop dance…..what is it, how do you do it and as a professional how to improve your form? Breakin' Convention offers anyone asking these questions the opportunity to work with experts from across the world, to learn, refine and develop dance technique. Workshops are taught on two levels: General level: For anyone aged 10 and upwards. No experience is necessary. The workshop will introduce the basics of technique and in some contain simple choreography with tips on how to progress. Ideal for anyone wanting to give dance a go! Advanced level: Faster paced workshops for dance students, professional dancers or those with 3 years of dance experience. This class is for experienced breakers and incorporates ariel and power moves that should not be attempted by beginners. French artist Phax returns to teach his unique style of Animation or "Slomotion" - the slowest Hip Hop dance you'll ever see. The workshop will include an introduction to the basics of the technique including an overview of the different styles of physical animation that are part of this form. You will learn how to use space and to express emotion and character by slowing down movement. Old school innovator and originator to the funk style locking, Greg was a founder member of The Lockers, a legendary crew formed by Don Campbellock in the early 70s.
