"We cannot cure the sufferings of this world, so we've decided to dance them"

Performing for the first time in the UK, this striking company of dancers brings a powerful physical narrative, portraying the damage from brutal social apartheid and corruption within inner-city Brazil.
Fusing Hip Hop and physical theatre, their hard-hitting movements and strong imagary purposefully depict the destruction brought about through violence and drugs.
With a subtle sound track of classical and popular Brazilian sounds, Febre vividly articulates issues rarely portrayed through dance theatre, but which are affecting communities around the world.
Membros founded in Macaé (180km from Rio De Janeiro) in 1999 by the choreographer, Tais Vieira, and Paulo Azevedo, a lecturer in Political Science. The company was originally created from a project which united ten young people from various backgrounds and cultural horizons, with no previous contact with dance.
The experience gave them another perspective on life, with the aim of forming a professional dance company. Now these performers have become professionals and are teachers at CiemH2, the Centre of Integrated Studies on the Hip Hop movement in Macaé.
