Surge (UK)
Mutation
This theatrical story tells the rebirth of the unknown. After a worldwide spread of infection, there were thought to be no survivors... but we were wrong.
The truth now unleashes what remains, so beware, the rebirth is coming.
Surge was set up early 2007 by Cathy Waller and Ben Davies, and is based in Hampshire; its members are aged from 14 to 19 years old. The company uses high-energy routines, combined with theatrical imagery, to unleash a new realm of street dance theatre.
Surge has performed in many venues across the UK ,including Wembley Arena, Hammersmith Apollo and Olympia in London, and Theatre Royal, Winchester, The Junction, Cambridge and The Corn Exchange in Newbury.
Cathy is in her second year of the BA Hons Dance Theatre degree at LABAN, and Ben starts his degree-level training in Dance in September 2008 at Winchester University.
In addition to creating work for Surge and studying, they have been commissioned to create new work on other youth dance companies.
