Style Wars Volume II
Style Wars Volume II takes you on a journey through street culture, incorporating street dance styles including Locking, Popping, B Boying, Filimore and New Skool. The work explores different ways to include authentic Hip Hop movement in a contemporary context.
The styles are presented in an innovative and original way with a musical score that ranges from Hip Hop, Beethoven and a James Brown drum 'n' bass remix! Performed with passion and vibrancy, the piece will keep you on the edge of your seat and appeal to young and old alike.
The Urban Strides official dance crew are based in High Wycombe. Company performances have included: opening the Royal Variety Performance (2005), working with respected artists Sean Paul, Dizzee Rascal and Fat Joe, as well as beat box legends, Killa Kella, Beardyman and Schlomo.
Urban Strides are sponsored by Vauxhall, and have most recently completed an eight-date Arena Tour performing in the newly-completed O2 Arena. It is their mission to make high quality real street dance accesible to everyone while still remaining true to the authentic street dance styles including Locking, Popping and B Boying. They want to inspire through entertainment and education and enthuse with their passion for dance.
